The Weight We Carry

The biggest difference between these two pictures & the woman in them isn’t actually the weight on my body - it was the weight between my ears.

The story I was carrying around in my head about my self worth, my size, my laziness, OPO (other peoples opinions), what I looked like compared to others & how it was easier for “them” - it was all so damn mean. And heavy.

I had to learn that when we talk to ourselves like shit, we treat ourselves like shit. We subconsciously sabotage ourselves & take actions to prove those stories true. We overeat, overdrink, we skip the workouts & we lay around continuing to beat the shit out of ourselves for being lazy (ask me how I know…).

The changes I’ve made in my life have been a byproduct of learning to manage the weight between my ears. To quiet the inner mean girl & not give herself much power over me. She was allowed to ride with me to the party but she was going to have to sit in the back, her ass was no longer allowed to tell me how to drive.

I had to see my worth as a human has nothing to do with a number on the scale or my pants size. And from there, the results I wanted started to happen - but it came from a place of acceptance & (sometimes) love but definitely not out of hate or lack.
